A Journey Built Together
Our story is woven from two unique paths that meet in the joy of making. For Daniela, the artistic heart of Gaila, visual arts have always been a sanctuary—from delicate brushstroke painting to intricate jewelry design. Alfredo, while less of a traditional artist, has been the hands-on force behind every project. With a deep love for woodworking, he has spent years building planes, trains, and small architectural wonders, ensuring that every idea has a solid and beautiful foundation.

The Birth of Gaila
Gaila was born from our shared dream of designing custom wooden pieces and handcrafted art. Named with love after our family and the arrival of our daughter, this project became our creative escape. While Daniela explored gemstones, metals, and enamels, Alfredo worked meticulously with wood and structure, transforming our home studio into a space where artistry and craftsmanship live side by side.

A New Chapter in Canada
Moving to Canada brought the challenge of starting over in a new culture and climate. During the transition, our creative spark was briefly dimmed by the whirlwind of change. However, we soon realized that working with our hands was exactly what we needed to reconnect with our essence. We missed the thrill of watching a project take shape—the blend of Daniela’s creative vision and Alfredo’s constructive skill.

Sharing the Joy of Making
We decided we didn’t want to keep this fulfillment to ourselves. We wanted to build a community where everyone could experience the pride of saying, "I made this myself." Today, Gaila Studio is a welcoming space in Waterloo where we combine our talents to teach others. Whether through painting, jewelry, or handcrafted decor, we invite you to take a pause from daily life.
Welcome to Gaila—a space where our two hearts and hands come together to help you create, connect, and discover your own artistic spirit.
